REPORT FROM SYDNEY
James White shares:
Recently, I was working in our Jews for Jesus shop when Tomer,* a young Israeli, walked in. He had seen our sign as he was walking past and came in out of curiosity.
Tomer shared with me how the current war in Israel had affected him personally. He lost four of his best friends on October 7th as they fought terrorists. He told me how hard it was for him to see people in Australia often misunderstand what happened in Israel on that day.
I listened to him and gave him enough space to talk and express his feelings. Then I shared who we are and what we believe: that we are Jews who believe in Jesus and that Jesus gives us hope even when there seems to be no hope left.
Tomer said it was interesting and he would think about what it meant for his own life. Before leaving the shop, he asked for a photo of us together, and I invited him to our next Shabbat dinner.
Praise God for these encounters with Jewish people where we are able to create safe spaces for them and the chance to share our hope in Messiah. Would you please pray for Tomer and Jewish people like him who are trying to make sense of this life’s hardships and who so desperately need Jesus in their lives?
And please keep James in your prayers as he continues to share the gospel with Jewish people in Sydney!
